Accessible Fitness Expo
Accessibility and inclusion are top-of-mind topics in today’s society. To maintain a healthy society and our quality of life it is important that we’re able to access fitness and recreation providers who are prepared to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
The event promotes inclusion and encourages more people to get fit and have fun!
Keynote presentations featuring
11:45 am: Spolumbo's presentation on their sense of inclusive community & how their fundamental values relate to the promotion of health lifestyles,
12:00 pm: Kara Douville- Two events dramatically altered Kara Douville’s life in the past five years.First, a life-changing injury left her paralyzed from the waist down. And second, she was introduced to handcycling, a sport in which athletes use their hands to pedal instead of their feet. Douville is on the NextGen national team and has placed in numerous events throughout her riding history, including first place in road race at the 2018 Global Relay Canadian Road Championships, another first in road race at the 2018 Defi Sportif AlterGo and a fourth place in road race and time trial at the 2018 Para-Cycling World Cup.
1:00 pm: Bedrock CrossFit. Bedrock has been leading the way in accessible fitness. Come hear about how they are doing it, why they are doing it and the positive impact they have created.
